Sid's brought a saxophone which he toots on. His hands are on the saxophone, his elbows tucked close to his body, feet and knees together, legs straight as he jumps up and down like a matchstick pinging out of a catapult. (This catches on when he does it at gigs and is later called the Pogo.)
Viv Albertine's memoire is sick funny. Review here. Lovely portraits of Sid Vicious and Ari Up. Albertine's style was copied by many; Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, etc. Makes it easier to accept her versions of the myths about the Pogo, the safety pins and the Dr. Martens ++ Did she and Richard Hell ever get together to discuss punk fashion? I bet The Met tried real hard last summer. Here's the lovely Slits plus some related stuff.
